You can now request money directly into any jar

Before now, when you requested money from friends and family, it went straight into your main Pingit account. And we get it, it made things a little bit tricky to keep track of.

Now if you're collecting with others, whether it's for a one-time thing or something a little bit bigger like a holiday (lucky you), then this should make things a bit easier.

From today, you can now make a request inside any of your jars and receive payments directly into that jar. Alternatively, you can tap on 'Pay & request' in the nav bar and choose from there which jar you want money to be paid into once you've requested it.

It's simple. Share your request link to others and enter how much they need to send you. You can select up to 20 friends from your contact list and pre-populate the amount for them. They don't need to be on Pingit either.

To track who's paid, you can just tap into your jar and you'll see all requests in there.

How can I use it and what does it mean for me?

It means less time spent moving money and more time having fun with friends and family.
  • Buying a birthday present for Dad? Create a 'Birthday' Jar and share your unique Jar request link so all your family can chip in.
  • Organising a holiday with friends? Make sure you have enough money for hotel and flights by tracking how much everyone's contributed to your 'Holiday' Jar.

The possibilities are endless, but there's one common theme: It's really fast and simple to request money from anyone.

And it doesn't end there… we've made some other enhancements too:

Introducing the newly combined 'Pay & request' tab

You'll notice in the app that the nav bar has changed slightly.

We've merged the 'Pay' and 'Request' tabs in our nav bar so that everything's in one place for you.

You can still do everything you can today, we've just enhanced the design (to make room for some really useful new upcoming features… watch this space).

A better way to top up your Jar

We've also merged the “Top-up" and “Auto Top-Up" buttons. To do this now, click on “Top-up" and a pop up will appear that will let you select how you'd like to add money.

You can make a single contribution, set a weekly or monthly top-up, or set it to automatically top up when your balance falls below a certain amount.
